Check your Meta tracking

How to use Goose's tracking check to see if Meta is counting your sales, and what to do if it isn't.

Goose judges your ads on sales when your account has any. If Meta isn't counting sales, Goose falls back to leads, then to link click rate. So it's worth checking that your tracking works.

Run the check

Open Results, and find Tracking at the bottom of Overview. It's also on Settings, then Connections, under Manage next to Meta ads. Goose checks your Meta pixel's purchase event and shows, for each ad account:

  • when the pixel last fired
  • whether Meta saw any sales in the last 7 days
  • the match quality
  • any warnings from Meta

Choose Check again to look again. The check is free. See Results and Meta.

Read what it says

  • Events are reaching Meta: your tracking works. The pixel shows Working.
  • Meta isn't seeing sales: this can simply mean there were no sales. Compare with your store's own orders for the same days.
  • Your pixel went quiet: something on your site may have stopped sending it. This often happens after a theme change or a new checkout.
  • Your pixel has never sent anything: the pixel isn't on your site yet.
  • No Meta pixel on this ad account: make a pixel in Meta, add it to your site, and share it with this ad account. If you already have one, share it with this ad account.
  • Warnings from Meta: read each one. They usually say what's missing.
  • Low match quality: Meta can't tell who many of your buyers are, so it links fewer sales to your ads. Your results look worse than they are.

Tracking is broken only when the tracking check says so.

Fix it

Goose only reads your tracking. It can't change your pixel or your site. The check lists the steps to fix what it found, with Open Events Manager. To fix it, ask whoever set up your store or your Meta pixel, or open your store's Meta settings. Then come back and choose Check again.

Remember

Meta counts a sale up to 7 days after a click, or 1 day after a view. A sale today may show up on an ad from last week.
