Results and Meta
Connect your Meta ad account so Goose can read how your ads do and tell you what's working.
When you connect Meta, Goose reads your ad results and judges each ad against the rest of your ad account. It uses what it learns to suggest what to make next, and which ads to give more budget, pause or refresh. Any change in Meta is yours to make.
Goose only reads from Meta today
Goose reads your results and checks your tracking. It doesn't launch, pause or change anything in your Meta ad account, and it never changes a budget. Changes to Meta are turned off in Goose for now.
Connect Meta
Each brand connects its own Meta ad accounts.
Open Settings, then Connections. Under Meta, next to Meta ads, choose Connect. On the Meta ads page, choose Connect Meta. You can also connect from the welcome page, or from Get started on Home.
Sign in to Meta and allow Goose to read your ad results. Goose asks Meta only to read them.
Under Ad accounts, choose Add an ad account and Add each ad account this brand uses. Goose reads every one you add.
Goose then brings in your last 6 months of results. This first read takes a couple of minutes. Results shows each step while it works, and your numbers as soon as it's done.
If the Meta login you used can't see any ad accounts, connect again with a login that can.
A business that manages Meta access centrally can choose Use a System User token instead, and paste a token that can only read ads.
How often results update
Goose reads your results again every day, early in the morning in your ad account's time zone. Results shows when it last updated. Choose Refresh to read them again, once every 15 minutes. If Meta asks Goose to slow down, Results tells you when you can refresh again.
Results are whole days, up to yesterday. Meta can still add sales to recent days, so yesterday's numbers may still grow.
What Results shows
Results has three tabs: Overview, Sent to Meta and Changes. Overview shows your numbers. Pick Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days or All time at the top. It starts on the last 30 days.
- At the top: your spend and cost per 1,000 views, with your main results. When you have sales, that's sales value, money back and cost per purchase. With leads, it's leads and cost per lead. Otherwise it's link clicks and cost per click. A chart below shows any of them by day. For 7, 30 or 90 days, each number also compares with the days before.
- All numbers: a button at the top. It shows every count Goose has, for the Whole account and By campaign, including adds to cart, sign-ups and how far people watched your videos.
- What's working: your results grouped by ad type, by campaign, or by what each Goose ad tried: its angle, hook, format, offer, buyer, or buying stage. Only ads Goose made carry these. With All time, this shows your last 90 days.
- Your ads: each ad with its numbers and Goose's call on it, under Result. On a wide screen it also shows how many times each person saw it and its last 14 days. Use Filter for Goose's call, status, kind, or Made by Goose and From Meta. You can also sort, search, and switch between Table and Grid. Choose Open ad to see one. On a video ad, or an image ad Goose made, Make variations starts a test of new versions against it. See Expand an ad.
Home also shows your last 7 days against the week before, and your Best and worst ads.
Goose's call on each ad
Goose judges each ad against the rest of your ad account, so a call says an ad beats or trails your account.
- Winning: clearly ahead of your account, with enough results to trust it. Make more like it.
- Rising: getting better than it was. Keep it and check back.
- Steady: level with your account, or waiting for more results.
- Behind: well behind your account. Think about replacing it.
- Tired: fewer people click than before. Try a new hook on the same idea.
- Too early: not enough spend, days or views yet.
- Not judged: results are still coming in, or they're more than 2 days old.
Goose judges on sales when your account has any. With no sales, it judges on leads. With neither, it judges on link click rate, which needs no tracking.
Meta counts a sale up to 7 days after a click, or 1 day after a view.
Goose suggests
After each update from Meta, Goose looks at your running ads from the last 30 days and suggests what to do with them, under Goose suggests on Results:
- an ad that's winning could get more budget
- an ad that's behind could be paused
- an ad that's tired, or that people have seen many times, could use fresh versions
Each suggestion shows the numbers behind it. Choose Plan a budget change, Plan pausing it or Plan fresh versions to save a plan in History and copy it for your AI app. Your AI app can make the fresh versions for you. For a budget or a pause, it tells you which ads to change and how, and you make that change in Ads Manager yourself. Goose doesn't change anything in Meta.
On a tired ad, or one people have seen many times, you can also test fresh versions against it in the dashboard:
- Test 3 new hooks on an image ad Goose made. It opens a test with 3 new hooks picked.
- Make variations on a video ad. For a video that isn't in Goose yet, it opens Bring in a video with that ad picked first.
See Expand an ad. You see the price before you say yes.
Choose Dismiss to hide a suggestion, and Undo if you change your mind. It comes back if the ad's status or budget changes, or if it went away and newer numbers back it again. A suggestion also goes away once newer numbers no longer back it.
Reports
Choose Ask for an analysis under Recent reports, or Ask about these days at the top of Overview. Goose copies a request for your AI app. Your AI app reads your results, writes the analysis, and saves it as a report your team can read under Recent reports on Results.
Tracking check
Goose checks your Meta pixel's purchase event. Tracking at the bottom of Overview shows, for each ad account, when the pixel last fired, whether Meta saw any sales in the last 7 days, the match quality, and any warnings from Meta. When something's wrong, it lists the steps to fix it, with Open Events Manager. Choose Check again to look again.
The Meta ads settings page shows the same check under Tracking.
No sales seen can simply mean there were no sales. Tracking is broken only when the tracking check says so.
Put ads on Meta
Results also has Sent to Meta and Changes tabs. They stay empty for now, and every Results tab says that changes to Meta are off. An approved ad shows Send to Meta, but that page only says sending is off. The Meta ads settings page shows Publishing as Off in Goose for now.
When sending to Meta is turned on for your account, finished videos can go up with Send to Meta, paused: one launch for a batch, after your yes on the card or on the batch's launch page in the dashboard. See Send to Meta. Until then, nothing goes to Meta from Goose.
To put Goose ads on Meta yourself, ask your AI app to pack them for Ads Manager. Goose makes a ZIP file with up to 50 ads: a sheet, the images and videos, and a short how-to. Upload the images and videos to Ads Manager's media library, then import the sheet as a bulk import. The ads come in paused, so you choose when they run. Goose sends nothing to Meta.
Ask your AI app
Ask "How are my ads doing?" or "What should I make next?" Your AI app reads your results and says what to keep, what to change and what to stop, each with Goose's call and reason. Then it suggests three ideas to test: two that build on what's working and one new one.
Your AI app can't launch, pause, approve or change anything on Meta through Goose. A video launch goes up only after your own yes on its card or launch page. When it suggests a change, like more budget for a winning ad or a pause for one that's behind, it names the exact ads and what to change on each. You make the change in Ads Manager yourself.
Your AI app can also go deeper than the dashboard. It can read each ad set's results against its budget, how often people saw its ads, and how its settings and audience are set up. It can also find your best and worst ad words to write new ones from. All of this is free.
With no results yet, it plans from your brand brain and your competitors, and says the ideas are first guesses.
Disconnect
Open Settings, then Connections, and choose Manage next to Meta ads. Under Meta sign-in, choose Disconnect to stop Goose getting new results for this brand, or choose Remove next to one ad account. Results you already have stay.
Meta sign-ins don't last forever. The Meta ads settings page shows when yours ends, so connect again before then. If Meta signs Goose out, Results and Needs you tell you, and Sign in again fixes it.
